Dr. Mohamed Al Bashir, MD, FACS

I am a consultant surgeon at the Levantine Medical Center in Alain, UAE. In addition, I am a visiting Surgeon at Ain Al-khaleej Hospital since September 2018. Prior to that, I was a consultant surgeon at Tawam Hospital from June 2007 till September 2018 and the director of the breast care center and chief of breast surgery from 2011 till March 2018. I was also the Co-Director of the General Surgery Residency Program from 2007-2010. I am an adjunct associate professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAEU.

I led Tawam Breast Care center through accreditation and re-accreditation by the NAPC in 2014 and 2017, respectively. It was the first international center to be accredited by NAPBC.

Prior to 2007, I worked at Jersey City Medical Center (New Jersey) and Maimonides Medical Center (New York). I was the Site-Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at Jersey City Medical Center. In addition, I was an assistant Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York).

I attained my MD degree from Down State Medical School (Brooklyn, New York) in 1996. I completed my general surgery residency program at Downstate in 2001. I was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 2002 and was recertified in 2011.

I am a fellow of the American college of surgeons and a member of the American society of breast surgeons and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. I am a member of the International Relations Committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) since 2016. I was the recipient of many awards, just to name few: Jonas E. Salk Award & Scholarship (1992), Chandler Mc Cuskey Brooks Annual Award in Physiology (1992-1993), Thomas W. Pollock Award (2001), Teacher of the Year Chief Resident Award (2001). I was chosen as best surgeon by the department of critical care medicine at Tawam Hospital in 2010 and received the exemplary contribution award by department of surgery at Tawam Hospital in 2011.

Most recently, I was the program Co-chairman of the first & second International multidisciplinary breast conferences which were held in Dubai Feb 15-17, 2018 and Feb 21-23, 2019. I will also co-chair the upcoming third International multidisciplinary breast conference in Dubai March 5-7, 2020.
